It’s Starting…FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015

Bonjour from Ottawa! Yes, that’s right, I’m in the big-O (as I like to call it) working with the Accreditation Team of the National Organizing Committee – Ottawa Chapter. Our office is just outside Lansdowne Stadium, which is a beautiful venue.

Through print media I learned that the Nigerian Women’s National Team (WNT) has arrived in Canada, and other teams will soon follow shortly (the German WNT is expected in Ottawa next week). I’m not sure if I’ll get to see teams train prior to the tournament starting…nonetheless, I’m happy to be on the “inside” of the tournament, seeing and learning the intricacies of planning such a large-scale event.

Did you know that there will be dedicated Fan Zones at each host city during the course of the tournament? Fan Zones will offer live entertainment, interactive displays, activations by FIFA Partners and National Supporters and screenings of selected matches…neat. I’m so excited for the tournament and the visibility it will be bringing to women’s soccer, can’t wait!
