Toronto is, and has been, home to some fun and interesting leagues. Years ago I was introduced to the Pillow Fight League through a friend, which features women fighting (wrestling more than fighting in actuality) each other with pillows! Unfortunately the league has been on hiatus and is now on sale, so it’s unlikely Toronto will see any more games. However, you can check out past matches online through Vimeo.
Women’s Arm Wrestling League of Toronto also organized a few events some years ago with all proceeds going to charity. I attended a few of these events and was amazed at the show-woman-ship of the arm wrestlers. One of the best events I have attended in Toronto ever! Check out the video.
And then this leaves Backyard Axe Throwing League, which started in 2012 and has grown quite steadily since. You may be wondering what it’s all about, and I’ve never seen it live so I can’t comment on the nature of it, but throwing axes at a wooden bulls-eye sounds like a lot of fun. Here’s the leagues video promo.
