The Maytree Foundation is “a private foundation that promotes equity and prosperity through leadership building” (http://maytree.com/about-us). Maytree does excellent work in local communities, operates from dynamic principles, and advocates for better public policy.
In their latest newsletter, Alan Broadbent, current Maytree Board Member, Chairman, and Founder, writes about the positive impact sports can have on local communities. Broadbent argues that government support for such initiatives is lacking. He also argues that dismantling the barriers to facilities (whether that be financial and/or bureaucratic) would support, and allow for, more public participation in sports.
It’s a great opinion piece.
